Day Care Services

What does it do?

We collect clients from their home and bring them to our day centre in Walker. A range of activities are on offer to provide a stimulating day. The day centre is a friendly place where you can socialise and enjoy the company of others. A home cooked meal is also provided and specialist dietry requirements are catered for. Highly trained care staff assist with personal care requirements if needed and are also trained in dementia care. Monthly meetings ensure clients have a say in what happens at the centre.

Who it is for?

Older adults with physical or mental disabilities

Where it is available?

Local service (Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside).

What it costs:

Costs vary according to the service required and whether you qualify for social care support via the local authority assessment process.  A financial assessment determines the amount you will be asked to contribute.

You can also self-refer and pay for your service privately. Please contact the Day Service Manager for further information or advice

How to access or apply for it:

Contact St Anthony of Padua directly on 0191 2345775 for a self-referral
or contact the Adult Social care Team on 0191 2788312 to check your eligibility for an assessment of need

What to expect then:

After a social care assessment you will be passed on to us and an appointment will be made for you to come in for a free trial day. Once you have decided to join us we will complete a holistic care plan to ensure we know what you want to achieve whilst at the day centre. Regular reviews will ensure we are meeting your requirements.

Additional information:

St Anthony’s is a registered charity which provides a range of support services for a small extra charge, such as a laundry service, bathing service, hairdressing and nail care service. We work closely with local health partners to ensure you have access to a dentist and an optician whilst at the centre if  required. We will hold regular reviews to ensure you are happy with the service and we encourage you to contact the office at any time to discuss your service or that of the person you care for.
