What is Care & Repair?
Care & Repair is a service funded by Social Services, the Council and the Scottish Executive via Communities Scotland, and is managed by Loreburn Housing Association. It should be noted that the service is semi-autonomous and is not part of Social Services or the Council, but works very closely with these agencies. There is a Care & Repair service in most council areas throughout Scotland.
What does it do?
We provide a free and confidential client orientated advice service, available to owner-occupiers and private tenants over 60 years old or with a disability. At your invitation, we will visit you at home to discuss what works may be needed to repair, improve or adapt your property and to assist in the application for grants for this work. Please note that a client contribution may be required to assist in the funding of the work.
How can it benefit me?
Care & Repair’s remit is to help older and disabled people remain within their own homes in their own communities for as long as possible. Care & Repair also helps the client achieve "Income Maximisation" by applying for the entitlements for which they are due (eg. Attendance Allowance). Income Maximisation can have a dramatic effect on your quality of life.
