Mencap - Dacorum
What does it do?
The ROAR scheme (Recreational Opportunities Allowing Respite) takes groups of adults with Learning Disabilities out on social activities in the community. As a result unpaid carers receive well deserved respite. Members are able to make more of their social lives and free time; improve their social skills, confidence and independence; enjoy activities and some times try new things. Where spaces are limited, priority has to be given to people living with unpaid carers due to the way the scheme is funded. The scheme aims to accommodate people with varying degrees of learning disabilities who may also have other special needs. We are happy to discuss the needs of individuals and aims to include everyone; however it may be dependent on being able to provide 1:1 or personal care where necessary. Some activities may not be suitable for everyone.
