In Safe Hands Service
What does it do?
Are you looking for respite care? There are many carers in York who look after loved ones. Age UK York is able to offer a range of options to enable carers to have a break knowing that their loved ones are in safe hands. Our care organisers will visit your home and give advice on what type of care is available and then match you with a suitable volunteer or care worker. There is a charge for both schemes.
After an initial home visit by one of the Care Organisers, we look for a volunteer to take the place of the carer so they can have a break. We offer companionship, preparation of simple meals, help with personal cares and simple moving and handling tasks.
Arrangements may be made to cover the day time or evening on an occasional or regular basis, night care, live-in care and pop-in visits, providing a suitable volunteer is available. All these arrangements take place in the older person's home.
