Befriending Service
What does it do?
Befriending Service
Our Befriending service is for older people who are lonely and socially isolated.
A Volunteer Befriender will visit to provide companionship on a regular basis. The primary role of a Befriender is to provide some company and a listening ear to those who do not have many friends and family nearby. Volunteers and clients are carefully matched, based on shared interests, hobbies and beliefs, and we often find genuine, long term friendships develop.
The service also helps identify further needs and concerns and allows us to offer additional advice, assistance and support, which includes working with other organisations and local authorities.
All our volunteers are DBS and reference checked for this service.
