Computer Club

What does it do?

Computer Club

Thursday 2.00 - 4.00pm

The Computer Club is available as a free service to all members of Age Concern MRR. It is designed to be an informal venue for people to learn computer skills at their own pace.

For many older people computers don’t really have a place in their lives; family members have bought them laptops or tablets hoping to stay in touch via Skype or social media and then been disappointed when it didn’t happen. However, we have the answer! It doesn’t matter whether it’s social media, on-line shopping, getting a better deal with the utility company or simply checking emails. Our wonderful volunteer, Ann, works with the members to teach them exactly what they want to learn and is on hand to help with any problems along the way.

Onsite computers

Although the computer club has been available to all members of Age Concern MRR, in the past participants have been required to bring their own laptops or tablets to the class. This has prevented people without their own equipment from joining the classes, and, even if they wanted to, the cost of buying a laptop “just to try” is simply too prohibitive.

However, massive thanks to Andrew Sewell, Director of Wessex Networks. Andrew has supplied us with two desk top computers and installed them in our computer room. These are available for any members to use during the computer classes and to practice in between.
