Housing register
What does it do?
To join the housing register applicants need to satisfy certain criteria relating to their local connection to the district, their suitability as a tenant, and whether or not they have a need for housing.
In order for us to ascertain whether you are eligible to apply, you must first speak to a member of the council's Housing Options team, either face to face or over the phone. This will enable us to discuss with you your current situation, provide advice on any matters that might help you in your existing accommodation, and discuss the different housing options available to you.
We also provide sheltered housing for people over 62, or those under 62 who would benefit from living in the communal environment that Sheltered Housing provides. The household must have an assessed need for the support that is provided in sheltered accommodation. We are not able to let a property to households that do not meet the criteria.
