Community Navigators

Information for you to choose how best to maintain your independence

What does it do?

We provide information for you to choose how best to maintain your independence.

Community Navigators are local volunteers helping you to find enjoyable activities and useful services.  No question is too big or too small!

Whatever the question, our volunteers will do their utmost to find an answer. Examples include:

  • Car schemes and help with transport
  • Social groups and activities
  • Befriending schemes
  • Practical help around the home
  • Mobility aids and home modifications
  • Security and fire safety assessments
  • Help to access benefits
  • Local gardeners and cleaners

Who it is for?

Older people and adults over 18

Where it is available?

Local service (East Cambridgeshire, Fenland, Huntingdonshire, Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire).

How to access or apply for it:

You can contact us directly or be referred via another agency.  One of the team will make contact to find out what you need over the telephone or by email.

What to expect then:

Our job is then to find out what is available to meet your needs, not to advise you what to do; it's your choice and we are here to help.  However, if you are worried about taking the next steps, we are happy to make telephone calls with you on your behalf.  It is our aim to connect you with the services and activities that will let you live a happier, healthier and independent life.

We will often match you with a local volunteer who has been police-checked, trained and knows what services and activities are available in your area. They can meet you in your home, locally or at a drop-in-session. Things become much clearer when you have time to explore what you need  - over a cup of tea.

Additional information:

Care Network provides help for older, isolated and vulnerable people living in Cambridgeshire - enabling them to remain independent and maintain social contact with friends and the community.  We equip, encourage and enable volunteers to support local people to lead a happy, healthy and independent life.
