Befriending and Telephone Befriending

What does it do?

We can offer opportunities to reduce isolation, develop friendships and feel part of your community.

Our Befriending and Telephone Befriending Co-ordinators can explore areas for support and advice.
They will ask you what you'd like to do to reduce your social isolation and support you to try and find a way to make it happen. We have some wonderful volunteers who support this service by making regular weekly visits and phone calls for older people.

Our supportive service can offer you:

  • a weekly visit to sit and chat with one of our volunteer befrienders
  • a weekly phone call for a friendly chat with our volunteer telephone befrienders

Who it is for?

The service is for for people aged 50 plus years in North Tyneside

Where it is available?

Local service (North Tyneside).

What it costs:

This service is free to people aged 50 plus years in North Tyneside. We are also looking for volunteers who can give someone their time each week with a short visit or phone call.
