Withy Trees Day Support
What does it do?
At Withy Trees Day Support Centre, we provide practical, emotional and person centred support for older people living with dementia. A warm and friendly environment enables opportunities for social interaction and participation in a diverse range of therapeutic activities.
The programme of activities is adaptable and changes to incorporate new ideas, celebrations, and cultural events, whilst meeting individual outcomes. Activities can include life story work, internet browsing, gardening, along with activities such as baking, arts and crafts, hair and beauty and much more.
'I enjoy baking it reminds me of my mum in the kitchen’
We encourage our service users in maintaining life skills and social interaction. Activities are determined by the ladies and gentlemen who join us. We have responded to a group of men who wanted to use their DIY skills and an active woodworking group has developed.
‘I can’t explain what dad coming means to us all, just to see him excited about what’s going on and hearing about the men’s group, for us as a family its brilliant’
For the family knowing their loved one is spending the day in a settled environment gives respite for the carer. Additional support for our carers is offered in other ways, for example holding Carer’s Meetings, which are a social opportunity for carers to come together relax and share experience.
