Welfare Benefits Service

Welfare benefits advice

What does it do?

Age Concern Somerset provides an independent, confidential and free welfare benefits service for older people.

We offer advice on benefits available for the over 60s, and are able to send an independent volunteer advocate out to complete benefit forms in your own home or within a Residential or Nursing home.

Age Concern Somerset currently has a large team of volunteer advocates who donate their time to deliver this service. Our volunteers work within their own communities to provide face-to-face help and advice on benefits and issues related to benefits. This includes a "Benefits check" to make sure you are receiving all your rights.

The benefits we deal with include:
- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Pension Credit (including Minimum Income Guarantee)
- Housing and Council Tax benefit
