Information and AdviceInformation and Advice service
What does it do?
Age UK Somerset provides information and advice on a wide range of issues. We’ll provide you with the facts and you can make choices and decisions knowing you have reliable information. This service has been awarded the Quality Mark of the Advice Services Alliance. This means that it has been audited by independent inspectors and reached their required standard.
Age UK Somerset's Information and Advice service provides practical support to older people in areas such as assessing benefit entitlement and completing forms. Our I & A Volunteers have the experience and training to support clients in tackling a problem or speaking on their behalf on matters such as community care and consumer issues.
The aim of the service is to empower older people to live independent lives by supporting them to make informed choices.
Support is available on issues including:
• Social care
• Care homes
• Consumer problems
• Welfare benefits
Help is also available where mental illness is a factor, including short term memory loss or varying forms of dementia.
Support may also be provided to families and carers. The I & A service is free to all older people, their families and carers. I & A Volunteers can visit people in their own homes.
