Members do not have to be registered, the only criterion being that they suffer from some degree of visual impairment. There is a homely, relaxed atmosphere where our visitors can meet and socialise. Members are encouraged to improve their mobility and maintain their independence. Frequent outings are arranged, such as shopping trips and occasional theatre excursions.

Handicraft and quizzes are popular. Other activities include daily keep fit classes without moving out of a chair, dominoes, card games, musical afternoons, and talks by visiting speakers.

Our centre welcomes visually impaired people with a variety of other disabilities, such as stroke victims and deaf people, and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Bathing facilities are available in specialised Parker baths, and members attending the centre can have their hair washed and set, or permed in our modern hairdressing salon. Chiropody is also available and is subsidised by the Association.

Morning coffee or tea, lunch (with special diets catered for) and afternoon tea are provided.

Members are collected by mini-bus at any time after 9.00am and taken home at 3.30pm. Two of the mini- buses are equipped with a tail lift, to make it easier for members to get in and out of the vehicle, even with a wheelchair.
