Community Meals

What does it do?

Two different Community Meals services are available across Shropshire; frozen and hot.

Frozen Service
can help you to maintain a high level of independence
caters for a wider range of dietary requirements
varied menu choice including the option of a soup instead of dessert
you can eat when you choose and order additional meals for friends and family
you can upgrade to a different menu on payment of the difference
a freezer can be loaned free of charge and will fit on a kitchen worktop
a meal heater (Servetherm) can be loaned to you free of charge or meals can be reheated in a microwave
you can pay weekly or monthly by cash or cheque

Hot Service
There is a limited hot service available across Shropshire, which can cater for some special dietary requirements. If you wish to find out more information please use the online enquiry form on this page.

Who it is for?

for older and vulnerable people who are unable to cater for themselves properly.

Where it is available?

Local service (South Shropshire, Bridgnorth, North Shropshire, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Atcham).

What it costs:

The charge is £2.75 per day for a two course meal. £2.10 for a main meal and £0.65 for dessert. This is the same for the hot or frozen service.

The meals can only be provided following an assessment made by our Social Work Team
