Dementia Advice

Dementia Advice for people in Herefordshire and Worcester

What does it do?

The Dementia Advice Service offers help, advice and information to people who are experiencing memory loss or who have received a diagnosis of dementia. Specially trained advisors, based in Age UK offices around the county, will provide information, advice and reassurance to clients, their carers and families.

Our advisor will meet you at home, at the Age UK office, or a location where you feel comfortable to discuss any difficulties you are having and suggest new ways of living well with memory loss. Together you will be able to agree a support plan to focus on the things you would like to improve and new opportunities you would like to explore.

They will also give you information about other organisations that can help and, with your consent, contact them on your behalf. Information about how to claim benefits, arrange a power of attorney or to access professional services is also available.

As part of the service, we can offer you regular contact with a fully-trained Dementia Support Volunteer who will telephone you for a friendly chat about your day or to listen to any concerns you may have.

At every stage you will remain at the heart of decision making about your life.
