Show more "The Beauchamp Community Almshouses were founded by Earl Beauchamp in 1864, principally to provide accommodation for retired estate workers and their families from his nearby Madresfield Estate.
Since then, the Beauchamp Community has evolved into a Charity, run by a board of Trustees, providing housing for poor people, usually between 65 and 75 years of age, who are able to live independently, and who are in Communion with the Church of England.
The Community has its own Church, St Leonards, which used to be the parish Church, but is now an "extra parochial place", in which Sunday services are held, and a Chapel for smaller mid-week worship. The worship is generally Anglo Catholic, and whilst residents are encouraged to attend, their numbers are considerably bolstered by other local people who like this style of worship.
