Originating from the mid 1600s, the buildings have been extensively refurbished and renovated over the years and now provide nine apartments over Ground and First Floors, mainly for single occupation. They are unfurnished dwellings which have been designed with the needs of older people.
The Trustees give preference to those applicants living in the Parish and who have family nearby to give support in an emergency. As a beneficiary of an Almshouse charity you would not be a tenant, but a Resident. You would not hold a tenancy but accommodated for which a Weekly Maintenance Contribution (WMC) is made. This is payable in advance each calendar month towards the upkeep of the dwelling and facilities and is reviewed annually. If the Applicant is under the current retirement age, a Guarantor will be requested to ensure that funding is maintained should there be any period of unemployment.
