Forming part of the overall masterplan for the redevelopment of the former Woodford aerodrome, this recently submitted planning application seeks to deliver mixed tenure retirement living accommodation of 87 one and two bedroom apartments and 17 two bedroom bungalows alongside communal facilities including a resident lounge and bistro.

The overall design approach reinterprets the arts and craft language of the overall masterplan into a contemporary solution that will provide spacious, light and airy accommodation over three floors. The main building follows the HAPPI principles and is arranged in a horse shoe format and will also provide communal gardens.

To the north of the site are the bungalows, accessed via a private road that will be built to adoptable standards. The single storey dwellings will have minimal impact on adjacent, existing dwellings and gardens.
