It has 12 apartments for frail, elderly people and 12 for those with mild to moderate dementia. Each apartment has a living room, kitchen, one or two bedrooms and bathroom and is equipped with assistive technology to enable people to live independently. Highly trained Trust staff are on duty at all times, and the level of support is tailored to the needs of the tenant. This person centered, flexible care offers safety and security while promoting independence. It allows tenants to age in place with the type and level of support adjusted as people’s needs change. The apartments for those people with dementia are arranged around secure courtyard gardens and there are internal communal spaces to cater for organised leisure and recreational activities. The building has been designed with wide corridors and low level glazing to maximise sky visibility and daylight. Subtle signage and assistive technology to maintain residents’ safety will enhance a sense of wellbeing and create maximum choice for those living in the scheme." Show less
