There are a total of 39 apartments and, as with Brook Street Court, it is designed specifically for people aged over 60.Many of the features included in the Brook Street development have been replicated at Darlison Court such as high levels of energy efficiency, size of accommodation, high levels of insulation and PV panels etc. However, there are some differences. The main one being that, thanks to funding from Nottinghamshire County Council, Darlison Court is built to Extra Care standard. This means that people with extra support needs can receive care in their own home from on-site care staff. The care is tailored to individuals changing needs so there is less likelihood that they will have to move into alternative accommodation. This service is available in 10 of the 39 apartments.
The grounds of Darlison Court have been designed to minimise hard surfaces and have been designed to include as much soft landscaping as possible. The most striking feature is the Baker Lane Brook. Prior to this development the brook ran beneath the old buildings in a culvert. Following consultation with the Environment Agency the brook was diverted to the front of the site and opened up. As well as providing an attractive feature, it has increased flood resilience and includes important features to help the protected white clawed crayfish to thrive." Show less
