Show more "Elizabeth Maginnis Court is a development owned by Dunedin Canmore Housing Association in the Royston area of Edinburgh, and is a good example of housing, social care and health working together.
It is designed very much like a traditional sheltered housing development, with a warden call system and telecare, residents lounges, a laundry and scooter store. Almost half of the 68 properties are let to older people with higher needs. Several people have moved in directly from hospital and some may otherwise have moved to a care home. These residents are supported by day support workers and a homecare team provided by City of Edinburgh Council dedicated to this particular development. There are also several tenants supported who have learning disabilities. There are also very close links with the district nursing service, who are involved in allocating new residents as well as any continuing health needs. There is also a meals service for these residents and a café area where they can socialise when taking their meals.
A step down service is also provided in some of the flats. This service provides temporary accommodation for people whose discharge from hospital would otherwise would be delayed. These people no longer need inpatient hospital care but are unable to return home straight away, or they need to find more suitable housing. A 24 hour care and support response is available until their longer term equipment, housing and support needs are arranged." Show less
