Following extensive and on-going research into Dementia, and working closely with Stirling University, the award winning home has been designed with the Dementia patient’s every need in mind, with specialist features to reduce and alleviate the distress, disorientation, and confusion so often experienced with this type of illness.
With the world of dementia care always changing, staff at Massereene work hard to keep pace with the changes and, since opening in 1997, we have consistently added to our features and ensured our staff are expertly trained.
We are also proud of our strong links with the Alzheimer’s Society and have carefully implemented their standards throughout the home. All care staff are inducted using a ‘Person Centred’ training programme using both Alzheimers Society and Dementia Services Northern Ireland Training Resources – which we also open up to families who want to know more about Dementia."
