"Sue Starkey House, named after a former employee of Gateway who died in 2010, is a new extra care scheme in Tower Hamlets that uniquely provides care and support for people aged 18 plus.

The accommodation is for Tower Hamlets residents who are in need of domestic or personal care and the support and care is not specific to any client group.

Gateway has worked in partnership with, Notting Hill Housing and Tower Hamlets to provide the new building and services. Gateway owns the building and Notting Hill manages the services. The facilities include: communal lounge, communal kitchen, laundrette, hair salon, games room, two quiet rooms, assisted bathroom, guest room for visitors, ground floor garden, roof terrace, staff office and kitchen and breakout area for staff.

Bernie Starkey, husband of the late Sue Starkey said: “I feel very proud that the scheme was named after Sue. The facilities are excellent and well planned. Sue would be so happy, and privileged if she was with us today.”

Councillor Asad said: “It is wonderful to think that with Gateway providing the premises and Notting Hill providing the support services, the partnership will enable residents with special care needs to live their lives to the full.”

Gateway would like to say thank you to the development team PRP Architects, PRP Project services and Higgins Construction." Show less
