Show more "For many years, there was a nursing home in Llanfairpwll right next to the Britannia Bridge that struggled.
Despite a wonderful location and dedicated staff, it never achieved its full potential, by mid-2017 it was facing the prospect of closure. The effect upon the 80+ residents and staff would have been life-changing.
Instead, the team at Fairways decided to invest in the home’s potential. They sought advice from Prof Bob Woods of the Dementia Services Development Centre at Bangor University on how the home could be remodelled to specialise in dementia care.
The Fairways team commissioned the award-winning architectural team, who had designed their state of the art Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre in Abergele, to implement Prof Woods’ ideas.
The architectural team were asked to design an ideal non-dementia environment alongside this, to offer excellent general nursing care at the same location.
