Show more " The Abbeyfield Society is a registered charity, we provide residential help for the over 60 seeking company with the emphasis on independence. We provide 17 bedsits with ensuite and a 1 bedroom flat. A friendly atmosphere free from the worries of maintaining a house, cooking, paying bills, gardening and dealing with loneliness. A good balance of privacy, companionship and security. Independent living with high quality support from dedicated staff and volunteers.Each room has a tv aerial, telephone point and an alarm system. Residents are free to furnish their rooms as they wish. Residents also have use of the communual sitting room, dining room, amenities room and laundry facilities. There is a lift to the 1st and 2nd floors and all floors are completly level. Breakfast is taken in the residents room with provisions provided. A home cooked midday meal and supper are served daily in the dining room. Residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own rooms, although many employ private help to do this. Residents can enjoy the pleasant gardens and sunny patio. There is ample parking for residents and visitors. We have a small guest room available for your friends and family members available at a small cost.
The house is ideally situated within a level walk of about 10 minutes to the town centre. Doctors surgeries and Dentists are close by. A Library, Post Office, Bus Station, The Wharf Theatre, Indoor Swimming Pool, Churches, Bowls and Tennis Club and Riverside Walks in the area known as the "Meadows" are within easy reach. A friendly atmosphere is created by our dedicated staff. Staff are on site every day from 8.30am and 6.30pm. We do not provide nursing care and there is no provision for those with dementia. We also cannot take Pets. Fees are moderate and include all food and utilities with the exception of telephone bills and internet. Up to date details are available on request.
