MHA made major additions in 1972 and the Home was subsequently refurbished in 1996, with the rooms increased to 42 in 2004.
The Duchess of Kent, the first Royal to open a Home, said:
“Nine hundred old people owe their contentment to MHA. The clear theme running through your plans is that every resident should be recognised as an individual, should feel wanted and receive affection, and be able to maintain his own respect within the security and comfort of a home.”
Stones Place was opened just three months ahead of Maidment Court in Poole and in his speech MHA Chairman, Sir George Martin, expressed “pride in my Church for establishing these wonderful rest houses for people in their old age. We now have thirty Homes – and we are not stopping yet.”" Show less
