Show more "Set in a delightful location just a short walk from the River Bourne, Milford Manor is a specialist dementia care home for up to 30 people. The home is widely recognised for its innovative approach to dementia, and draws on the work of the specialist dementia centres at Stirling, Surrey and Bradford universities to translate their research findings into practical ways to help and support people with this illness. The way we run the home is purposely designed to reduce any confusion or anxiety residents may feel – giving them the maximum freedom and choice in their daily lives, encouraging them to do as much as they can for themselves, and involving their families and friends as often as possible. All of the staff, at every level, receive specific dementia training and are supported by an experienced senior team including a registered mental health nurse. David Sheard, a recognised national expert, directly trained our Manager who has a specialist diploma in caring for people with dementia.
