Community Transport Service

What does it do?

Tameside MBC has an in house Community Transport provision which operates a modern fleet of 16 seat and 24 seat welfare coaches. These all have facilities, to carry wheelchair dependant passengers and passengers who have limited mobility as well as those who are able bodied. All vehicles have a high specification, independent saloon heaters and in most vehicles, air conditioning.

Although our key service is providing transport for people attending day care centres, schools and day clubs, we also are able to cater for a wide spectrum of other users but not individuals for example: education groups, sports development groups, social groups, church groups and charities within Tameside including youth organisations such as, Scouts, Brownies, Guides etc.

All drivers and escorts are trained to a high standard. Drivers within the Community Transport Section undertake an NVQ in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Community Transport) and are completing individual training, to obtain a Driver’s “CPC” “Certificate of Professional Competence”, this will be mandatory for all drivers of PCV Vehicles in the near future.

If you have any passenger transport requirements, please give us a ring for an honest, reliable quote, transport can be arranged 7 days a week. If we have vehicle and driver availability you will get a definite “yes” or “no” and if we are able to cover your request, you can be assured of the highest standards at all times.

All drivers and escorts are subject to an enhanced CRB check, all drivers wear a uniform, and are instantly recognisable, as representing the authority.
