Dementia and Me

Dementia, Alzheimers, memory, activities, befriending, Surrey,

What does it do?

It’s important to maintain previous hobbies and interests as it reduces the effect of severe cognitive impairment and provides a better quality of life overall. These interests are essential after a dementia diagnosis is given as it combats the loneliness and isolation that many people experience. It also boosts self-confidence. We encourage people to take part in crafts, games, and other activities. Reminiscing and listening to music. People with Dementia often remember the past rather than recent events so we aim to trigger the happy memories which help the person become more interested and boosts self esteem. We like to get a detailed history of each individual client as not all memories are good ones and those we like to avoid.
