Twenty flats are in a newly built wing opened in March 2012 and the 32 are in the original buildings. Ten flats are suitable for married couples and 6 are fully adapted to the highest standards for wheelchair users. They have all been sympathetically designed to provide maximum comfort. The flats share access to a beautiful, fully enclosed courtyard garden. Other facilities include a large Residents’ Hall for social activities, meeting friends or just relaxing. In the new block there is also a library and computer suite for residents and a smaller meeting room that can be used for classes, recreational activities or smaller social functions.

All the flats are carpeted throughout, are well decorated and centrally heated. The sitting rooms are spacious and light and the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. The kitchens have built-in units including an oven and separate hob with extractor fan. There is also a space for a fridge-freezer. The bathroom has either a bath or shower. All the rooms have a generous supply of power points and a television aerial socket. Residents provide their own furniture and the Scheme Manager can advise on suitability if necessary.

The majority of ground floor flats and all the newly refurbished first floor flats in the original buildings are now equipped with wet rooms to permit maximum accessibility for those of limited mobility who may find getting into and out of a bath difficult. First floor flats in the original buildings are not served by lifts so residents must be sufficiently mobile to cope with a limited number of stairs. The Scheme Manager or Relief Scheme Manager visits’ each day or more often if needed. Their aim is to ensure the well-being of all residents without intruding on their right to privacy. For added security, each flat has a Scheme Manager call system. For more information about Sycamore House contact the Scheme Manager on 020 8600 0650." Show less
